English Gcse Short Story

A tall stocky young man awoken in the dark shade of his bedroom. Dry saliva was visible as it stained his cheek. Half of his face was red and pressured as if he had been asleep for a prolonged period of time. He awoken however as much as he strained he could not find the strength to leave his bed. The queen sized bed was made out of carved Oak, making no noises and remaining still as he struggled to lift himself up. The man blindly reached over with his right arm to his antique Victorian bedside drawers, without even reattempting to leave his bed. He pulled the drawer slowly out of the bracket, letting go as the drawer was open half way, thinking for a moment. He took a long deep breath as he began shuffling his scarred hand through the drawer. Making thumping sounds as some items hit the back of the drawer. The man began grunting in anger, now throwing the contents of the drawer on the beige silk carpet beneath him. He then unholstered the heavy drawer out of the bracket, as the full contents spilled out. He began scanning through the empty although dirtied bags on the floor. A moment was taken to run his fingers backwards through his hair as he pondered. A faint knock was heard coming from downstairs. The man struggled to get on his feet, however pulled through and managed to lift using his bedside drawer to pull his body weight up. He quickly picked up his dark burgundy cashmere gown off the floor, swinging it around and sliding his arms in quickly. The creases on the gown were visible where it had been kept untidily. The door of the bedroom was quickly opened and closed behind the man as he slid through. A small tapping sound was heard as he began making his way down the marble stairs, as he was arriving at the bottom of the stairs, the man glanced shortly at the wall, leaning towards the elegantly wallpapered walls.
