A Streetcar Named Desire
“A street car named desire” is a symbolic of how human cravings can be disparaging and remain to be a dream rather than reality.
“A street car named desire” is a play by American playwright “Tennessee Williams” written in 1947 which saw him receive “Pulitzer price” for drama in the year 1948.There is a clash of culture between the two iconic characters. This drama is adopted into a play in 1951 which becomes the first film to ever win three out four nominations in the at the academy awards which include; best actress, best supporting actor, and best supporting actress. The drama is set in Louisiana New Orleans right after world war two. This drama is the story of Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski; the two iconic characters with the latter being a vanishing remnant of the aged south and the former a rising constituent of the industrialized, metropolitans ranked as the working class in the fresh south. Blanche DuBois is fading but still very attractive southern belle who is ostentatious about culture and virtue which are meant to mask mirages of dignity and alcoholism. The illusions of her poise are designed to screen others from reality but this is just a mask she has taken to protect mostly herself from reality. She visits her sister Stella Kowalski and a long the way she takes a street care named desire which is an allegory of her life. The sister is married to Stanley Kowalski who is physically as well as mentally abusive to his wife but whom the wife loves dearly because of these same characters he exhibits.
