All relationships have ups and downs, but in order for them to work it is substantial to have a few important qualities. Both partners must possess the qualities for a relationship to be long lasting. Liam from the short story “Bluffing” by Gail Helgason, and Ann from the short story “The Painted Door” by Ross Sinclair lack being trustworthy, selfless, and caring, while their partners, Gabriella and John carry these traits, making it difficult for both relationships to be successful.…

In the article “A royal salute to the Commonwealth” by Peter Oborne, which serves as a personal commentary on how the British Duke and Duchess visits Canada, he is very content on pointing out that it is important for UK to maintain a good relationship to the other Commonwealth-countries - partly because these countries have a joint history and partly share various values. Lastly, Oborne sees the Commonwealth as the future while the US and European Union will face crisis in the near future.…

It is often difficult to distinguish the differences and similarities between Technical Writing and Creative Writing. Writing is writing and good writing is creative writing. If we accept, however, that Technical Writing exists in its own category, with Creative Writing in another, how can we categorize creative Technical writing? One way to explore the differences and similarities between Technical Writing and Creative Writing is to analyze them with regard to subject, purpose, audience and voice. Even a rudimentary analysis of these two writing styles in terms of subject, purpose, audience and voice will expose the fact that Creative Writing encompasses a broader scope of writing than Technical Writing, with fewer limitations.…

When you were in school have you ever came back from vacation and forgot what you have learned? Most kids when they come back from summer vacation they forgot most of the material they had just learned. Or during school students complain “I want more time off”. No one gets excited about school but if kids were used to getting no summer break then they wouldn’t have the need to want more time off. The traditional three-summer vacation should not be maintained because over summer students forget what they learned, the holiday breaks will be longer, and the students will be able to learn more.…

Society try's to keep people from expressing their own ideas and/or interests. Since society thinks this way, many people feel as if that is the only way to think. In the short story, The sociology of leopard man the author Logan Feys states," society tends to discourage people from expressing their unique ideas and behaving in ways that are different from their peers". In my opinion there's definitely a time to act serious but there is also a time to let loose and get away from society and just be yourself.…

Ever since humanity has been able to see stars there have been a dream to visit one, but it wasn’t until 1957, that mankind took the first big step to accomplish that dream. In 1957, Soviet sent their Sputnik 1 in to orbit around earth, and we entered the space age. NASA, the national Aeronautics and Space Administration were founded in 1958, when the Americans realized they were facing a space race of huge proportions. From the beginning NASA held only four laboratories with approximately 8000 employees, who previously worked for the former authority, NACA. Since that, NASA has grown to be one of the biggest employers in the public sector. In 1969, after big accomplishments from both U.S and USSR, the American astronaut, Neil Armstrong became the first man on the moon. After that the U.S sent up five more manned crews to the moon, the last one in 1972. Since then, NASA has been a tremendous source of national pride.…

Niemöller would give the advice to speak up and speak out for what you believe in or to help someone because later on there might be someone left to speak out for you. The speaker would most likely not agree with that perspective, from the first passage it seems to me the speaker is more of a silent learner. But something could happen to him like with Niemöller where he didn't speak up and then there was no one left to speak up for him. Not being silent could help not only you but a lot of people later on. Niemöller learned that if he would have spoke up there could have possibly been someone left to speak up for him. The Speaker should have spoke up because he could have saved a lot of people like the mother being misused by her children and being neglected. The speaker could have spoke up and possibly saved that mother or made her life easier to deal with. To watch cruel things happen and not speak up will come to haunt you in you end. There could be additional consequence to speaking up where your opinion was not necessarily wanted but it could also help.…
