Food Safety in America
Food safety is a topic that did not really cross people’s mind too much until recently. Due to a number of illnesses caused by tainted foods in the past couple years or so, this subject has moved to the front of many individuals’ minds. Food safety issues come about during the sanitation, processing, handling, and shipping of foods across America. Even the simplest mistake in either the shipping, processing, sanitation, or handling of the food could result in an illness when consumed by a customer(s). Although the government wants consumers to be happy and healthy, they have a horrible way of showing they care. Government agencies are responsible for setting food safety standards, conducting inspections, and making sure that food safety standards are met. The government should completely remove themselves from inspecting foods because with them around food is not getting any safer.
When it comes to food in America the government could care less about the safety of our food. This is because they allow food companies to pour things such as ammonia, round up, and other harmful chemicals in the foods. Cleaning products should not be in the food because many people could get sick, and some people would not even know why. Some food places sell food to consumers knowing that there are problems with their food. The consumer then gets sick, and when they try to sue the company they are not able to because of financial issues.
The government should completely remove themselves inspecting food because food is not getting any safer and more people are getting sick. The government recently cut the budget of the food inspection programs inside the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other government agencies. The foodborne illnesses cost the United States roughly $152 billion a year, making the budget cuts aimed at those programs look miniscule in comparison quote website. More and more people
