This internship experience definitely opened my eyes to new and better things. It gave me an insight of what I may be actually doing for the rest of my life. I want to be in the entertainment industry, because the networking would be so great. The thought of meeting new people makes me appreciate the career focus that I chose. I have other plans that I want pursue as well. I just don’t want to focus on radio, television, and film. I want to expand my horizons and start my own business. So far I’ve been looking into starting a t-shirt line, so I’ve been coming up with ideas and practicing my graphic design skills. I’ve also been looking into getting a SAG card which is a Scene Actor Guide. I have been working on getting my voice out there by creating air-checks. My other plans are to go to graduate school, not sure where yet but that is one of my priorities. What I want to study is film and mass communication.
Since I’ve been interning I have also been looking for full time jobs. The task is not easy at all, but I know it will all pay off. So far I been using several internet resources for my job search; craigslist, indeed.com, careerbuilder.com, and monsterjobs.com. The main keywords I use when searching for a job are, radio, promotions, and televison. The application process for most jobs is fairly easy, majority of the companies just need my resume and for me to fill out one page of information. My plan to expand my job search is to start looking through newspapers classifieds, in the Pennsylvania and New York area. After my internship process is over, I will continue to look into career jobs but I also plan on looking for a part time job just to get my money together. I’m just praying and keeping faith that I will find a career job that I enjoy and can benefit from.
