The scene that I chose that was in movie clips was from “Waiting to Exhale”, which was when Bernadette burnt all of her husband’s clothes in the front yard after he made a statement that he was leaving her for another women which was white. This movie was based on the book written by Terry McMillian. In this movie there were a lot of people involved in this movie and some of them that was included are: Director: Forest Whitaker Production Designer: David Gropman Art director: Mar Fisichella
Forest Whitaker was the leader of this movie and his role as the director were to make it so that the tone of the movie was set. He is the one that is in charge of making sure that the actors remembers their lines correctly and also by making sure that the actors are properly portraying the characters that they are going to be in the film. The production designer may also make decisions about the colors to be used in the movie and so often he provides many important suggestions about the way things are arranged in the individual showing of the movie. The production designer works with different departments like: Engineering Marketing Sales

The director is responsible for overseeing creative aspects of a film. They develop the vision for a film and carry the vision out, deciding how the film should look. The director may also be heavily involved in the writing and editing of the film, as well as managing the script into a sequence of shots, coordinating the actors in the film and supervising musical aspects. The Auteur Theory suggests that films contain certain characteristics or ‘signatures’ that reflect the director’s individual style and give a film its personal and unique stamp. Hayao Miyazaki is one such auteur whose entertaining plots, compelling characters and breathtaking animation in his films have earned him international renown from critics as well as public recognition within Japan.…

My job in our Candide Video Project was a semi-important acting role, and more importantly, editor. To start, we brainstormed ideas with each other concerning the plot of the video and the order it would follow. Once we had our scene and the basic idea of what we were satirizing we started on our script. Anirudh typed up the basic draft of the script while me and the other team member pitched ideas to him. I’d say that Sathvik and Atul were responsible for constructing most of the plot, while me and Anirudh just added some ideas and tweaks here and there.…

    The Auteur Theory

Yes, Auteurs place a great deal of heart within their work but just because a director is not an Auteur does not make them or the movie terrible. In fact, sometimes this is a good thing, many times the original story is perfectly fine how the author wrote it but the only thing missing is the right aesthetics to accompany it. That's when the Metteur en scene director jumps in he has the same amount of power as the author however in a different aspect. He is able to add his personal style when it comes to lighting, set, and camera angles which can make the difference of a good or bad movie. I believe that both Auteur and Metteur en scene have both the same amount of importance and you can still these two styles of directing in Hollywood…

Through moving pictures, a story can be told with fluidity and rhythm, like music. Much like a sculpture molds clay or stone into something beautiful; a filmmaker can show us their vision or perspective of a story. Motion pictures have a way of influencing us to change the world, make us laugh and make us cry. This powerful medium has altered our world and has helped shape our culture. Analysis and evaluation…

The job of set designers, if not stated clearly enough already, is to design and then create sets used in movies, plays and other performing arts. Designing these sets can be a easy as just picking out a couple pieces of furniture and putting up a backdrop for a play to creating complicated locations like the inside of spaceship or space station, like the Death Star. In order to accomplish the task of creating these masterpieces, set designers study scripts, research historical periods, have discussion with director, lighting designers, and other people working on the production. For movies, set designers draw plans, take and use pictures of models they intended on using or create models if they need to using computers and other resources. They revise their designs on the feedback of others, estimate costs, select props like furniture, rugs. For plays…
