Effects of Stress
In emergency situations it is very important to demonstrate self-awareness when responding to emergencies. You should know who needs to be contacted such as, the US Department of Defenses, Center for Dieses Control, Health & Human Services, FEMA, and National Guard. It can be very stressful when responding to emergencies. One of the most important steps to remember is, protect yourself, look for any uncontaminated victims, separate containment and uncontaminated people, containment, isolations, and identify what it is: bacteria, viruses, fungi, toxins, chemical, ect. Always remember you cognitive base skills, behavioral, and psychomotor skills “As a medical assistant you need to show good leadership and have the ability to guide and direct others with influence and authority. The medical assistant must assess the situation, quickly develop a plan of action, and keep everyone involved calm. The office policies and manual will guide all personnel as to how to handle an emergency. This book also includes procedures during an emergency; it outlines the steps to be followed when a crisis situation arises. It will specify everyone’s task, who should be notified or informed, and what paperwork is to be completed. Develop a person patient and employee safety plan and an environmental safety plan. Always comply with safety signs, symbols, labels, and directions. Discuss critical elements of an emergency plan for response to a natural disaster or other emergency”. An effect of Stress differs for each of us. We all respond to stress differently. “Some people blush, some eat more while others grow pale or eat less.
