Religion can affect some people in serious and different ways. There are circumstances that can take away how people would think on their own. Like people may be told to believe in a distinct way and this way is usually the way the leader would think. People are then told to never to question his/her perception. If people did this would ban them from the 'one true church'. There are a lot of these 'one true churches' around the world.
One of the religious groups that effected society was known as the Branch Davidians. They lived in a compound known as the Mount Carmel Center. This religious group’s leader was David Koresh. On the morning of February 28th, 1993 there were 70 something armed agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) getting ready to go into the wooden buildings just outside the Texas town of Waco (Ramsland, 2012). This was an area of wooden building that was grouped together called the Mount Carmel Center. Inside there were a lot of explosives and weapons, some may have been illegally changed to have rapid-fire automatically. Koresh's thinking was the government was working for Satan. Koresh has his follower thinking that they would be attacked by the Babylonians (Ramsland, 2012). At that time shooting started, which lasted for 2 hours. After that 2 hours there were 20 ATF wounded and 4 dead. Then the stand of started up again and lasted 51 days. When everything ended 80 people were found dead, 23 of them children under 17. Koresh was the father of 14 of the kids. People were saying that Koresh may have had gone through tunnels that were below ground, but his body was identified by dental records and he had died by a shot in the head. Most of the people had died from gunshots, but there was one child that had been stabbed to death.
