Effects of Plastic Surgery
Effects of Plastic Surgery
Just in case you were unsure of the effects of plastic surgery, this can be a pretty good guide to some of the things that you might not expect after having had surgery…and some things that you probably already knew but haven’t thought all that much about.
Basically having plastic surgery will affect you in three major ways. The first and possible least important is the effect it will have on your pocketbook. Plastic surgery, whether it is a face lift, breast enhancement or liposuction will take a hefty chunk out of your wallet. Now of course how this will effect you depends on how much disposable income you have. For instance, you may have to take out a loan in order to afford your new look, this will be a little bit of a strain on your finances, but it will also be a reminder of what you had done and you might even not take your new look for granted for quite as long.
There is also the physical effect that having plastic surgery will have on you. Having plastic surgery is a lot like getting beaten up. Most doctors will be up front about this…and if they aren’t you probably should start looking for another doctor anyway. When you leave the hospital the chances are you will look like somebody took a two-by-four to your face. But of course the end result will be something quite wonderful.
But, don’t be surprised if there are some alternative side effects that you had not counted on. For instance, if you have young children this could be a fairly traumatic experience for them. When you do get back from the hospital they will be worried that something very terrible has happen to their mother. If this is the case you need someone, maybe not yourself, to explain to them what happened and that everything will be all right.
There is also the factor that your children might not fully recognize you if you have radical surgery like a major rhinoplasty or a facelift. If this is the case, you need to explain to them, with great

Some of the complications that may occur after surgery is scarring. Scarring after a surgery procedure may affect ones decision to go through with the surgery. If a teen already feels uncomfortable with the natural look of her body, after scarring that will not change or worst case scenario, she may feel worse about her body and feel like she has to cover it up to camouflage it. Another con to surgery is obsession. After the satisfaction of having a successful surgery, a teen may feel like she must continue on with surgeries to begin a process of changing, altering or fixing any minor flaws in order to gain full satisfaction. Having multiple surgeries increases the risk or serious complications. It is possible to for someone to undergo too much surgery where they will eventually experience long term effects. In some cases, depending on the surgery being done, there are various complications for each procedure. For example, when it comes to surgeries like breast augmentations, most women have at least one serious complication within the first three years with complications including infection, painful hardening of the breast , scarring, loss of nipple sensation, etc. (Zuckerman, par.4) Death is one of the most severe outcomes of plastic surgery. It can be due to actual complications from the procedure or from the patient committing suicide. According to Randy and Lori Sansone, “In the past seven…

One of the first questions to ask before surgery is, what are the financial repercussions of having it performed? In this time of national recession, surgery can become increasingly expensive, especially if you are not able to obtain results without undergoing another procedure. Dr. Zuckerman claims that," Many plastic surgeons offer cosmetic surgery on the installment plan, and more than one-third of augmentation patients undergo additional surgery to correct problems within three years, therefore, many young women who need to have a broken or painful implant removed will be still paying for the initial augmentation surgery and unable to afford corrective surgery" (2008). Because the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery for teens are breast augmentations, liposuction and rhinoplasty, these procedures come with a hefty price tag. "Financial costs are higher for silicone gel breast implants compared to saline breast implants and can cost up to $10,000 a pair" (Zuckerman, 2001).…

My interest in the subject of plastic surgery has grown due to the constant pressure that is placed on women today to live up to these unreasonable standards. Teenagers, and even their parents, are completely enveloped in what society thinks they should look like. This causes self-esteem levels to be contingent upon appearance rather than value systems or moral codes. Although they are often downplayed in the media, the social, physical, and psychological risks of plastic surgery are very dangerous to a person 's well-being.…

Plastic surgery has been a growing fascination for many people over the last couple of decades. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic surgery statistics have shown that from 1997 to 2002 there has been a 22.8 percent increase in the number of cosmetic procedures performed. Messages within the media indirectly contribute to this rising rate. However, the question that everyone needs an answer is, “Is cosmetic surgery helpful or damaging to an individual’s mind and body?” As far as I am aware of, Plastic surgery has more benefits than risks; it is helpful to an individual’s mind and body. I agree with the statement to a large extent. The benefits of plastic surgery consist of, the increase in an individual’s self-esteem, better health and quality of life and lastly, people who undergo plastic surgery are easily accepted in society.…

The physical and external benefits of plastic surgery can be multi-faceted. The first thing that many people notice after plastic surgery is that their bodies seem more proportional or balanced. Whether a person opts to have surgery on their face, hips, breasts or thighs the aim is to sculpt the body in a way that looks natural. The result often allows people to look more like they feel like they should look. This may sound strange, but often a nose that is too large for a particular person's face or a bust that is too large or too small can blur all of this person's other features making them seem disproportionate. Surgeons aim to correct this by taking each individual's body into consideration before deciding on a desired result.…
