This chapter is dealt with the background of the study, statement of the problem, conceptual framework, variables of the study, significance of the study, scope and limitation of the study, and definition of terms. Background of the study
Affection is demonstrating love and tenderness to another human being. A course of time as two people gets comfortable with one another and said to be the cement of a relationship Diggs,( 2009). This is vital to an every individual in manifesting ones emotions and the intimacy of being with his partner that is showing love towards those who deserve it is an art. We can merely notice that a person is showing affection through the spark of his eyes. In the latter part of the article, Diggs stated few types of affectionate behavior namely the holding hands, kissing, rubbing, eye contact and hugging.
Affection is an important aspect of relationships. When two people are in love finding ways to show physical and verbal affection is a good way to demonstrate feelings and help solidify the relationship. It brings two people closer, strengthens the bond and reinforces love. Without it, human relationship can easily be destroyed.
Expressing love or a feeling of closeness is not always easy. There are many things to be considered. People have different strategies on showing affection towards other person. Some people prefer to tell how much they care and love their loved ones. Love to give compliments, devote time and attention to a relationship, give thoughtful presents, and frequently embraced them or hold their hands. According to Mitchell, one effective way to show affection is to plan a date, maybe something unexpected, something spontaneous, where you can really have time alone together and away from the rest of the world since human loves surprises. But having simple interaction with the one you love makes a person feel really special, really cared for is even more perfect than every expensive date. There were tests conducted in the University of Southeastern Philippines which show that students tend to show their affection to others that is obviously seen by others. To this degree, the researchers come up with the study entitled “Effective Strategies on Showing Affection of Freshmen Electrical Engineering SY 2011-2012” to determine specifically what the effective strategies on showing affection are. In connection, the researchers aim to unravel if the respondents are capable enough in doing affectionate acts just to show affection to others. Facial expression, affectionate gestures and pick-up lines are just some of the great factors and reasons that contribute to the formulation of this study. Statement of the Problem
This study is aimed to find out the common strategies on showing affection done by the students. Specifically, the researchers aimed to answer the following questions: 1. What are the effective strategies on showing affection of Freshmen Electrical Engineering SY 2011-2012?

Variables of the Study
As shown in the schematic diagram, the first variable refers to the respondents of the study the Freshmen Electrical Engineering and for the second variable, refers to the effective strategies on showing affection. Significance of the Study
The main importance of this study is the findings in providing accurate data that can be the basis of effective strategies on showing affection. Therefore, this study is significant to the following:
Students/learners. The findings are important since they will know what they have to focus and somehow assist or improve their strategies on showing affection. Future researchers. This will provide important findings about the effective strategies on showing affection and may be used for future research reference. Scope and Limitations of the Study
