In this essay we are going to discuss the different aspects of management in an organization. And we are going to use Google Inc. as an example to explain how theses managing strategies has impacted on their business performance.
‘?Google’? is the most popular online searching engine in the world. It is also a core product which belongs to the American company Google Inc. Google Inc. is a multinational company that provides internet-related products and services. Google was first founded in Menlo Park, California in 1998 by two PH.D students Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were studying in the University of Stanford. In the year of 2006, the Google headquarter office has relocated in Mountain View, California, United States. Until the year of 2011, Google has approximately 32,000 employees all around the world, offices in 43 countries across America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. Since 2011, Larry Page has become the CEO and Eric Schmidt has become the Executive Chairman of the company. Also in the year of 2011, there were nearly 25 percent of the young professionals has voted Google as the most ideal employer out of a list of companies by the research of the consulting firm Universum and Google also been ranked No.1 on 100 Best companies To work For list for 2012 by Fortune Magazine.
How to manage diversity within the organization
Organizational Diversity is refers to hiring different kinds of people with the different backgrounds, skills and experiences to work in an organization. This can be a challenge to the managers but it is essential for a company to develop its ability of diversity to successfully emerge into the global marketplace. According to the Kandola and Fullerton diversity, ‘?there are two types of diversity differences which are visible and non-visible. It is including gender, age, background, race, disability, personalities and work style. It is founded on the premise that harnessing these differences will create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued, where their talents are being utilized, and which organizational goals are met.’? The basic skills that the managers are required in order to manage the diversity are:
The ability to recognize and analyze diversity mixture
The ability to determine if action is required with respect to a particular mixture The ability to respond appropriately to the issue in question
Five steps of managing diversity within the company:
Step 1: To have strong equal policies for the company. Avoid any human resources policies that contains tenure, ethnic background or other categories. To ensure that all the company personnel policies are all based on the employee performance.
Step 2: When hiring a new staff, the qualification of the candidates should be rated on their quality of performances, but not any other conditions such as gender or age.
