Diversity is the differences among others groups of people and individuals age, religion, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and disability status. Anything that can set a person apart from others (Esty,et al; 1995). The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is a association that strives to guard employees and applicants that are not treated fairly by employers, companies, and organizations, end other words EEOC protects everybody that live in the United States. Example EEOC assisted in the assistant manager of Wal Mart, he needed off on Sundays cause of his religion to celebrate the Sabbath. Wal Mart was no longer going to continue to aloud for him to take off on Sundays so they started to discipline the assistant manager for do it. He saw that was time to filed a lawsuit with the EEOC to be protected from getting terminated from Wal Mart. Byrne Moore investigated the issue and the United States Magistrate judge of the state of Washington found that Wal Mart violated his civil rights, and he was awarded 70,000. The function of the EEOC is to put into federal laws like the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and many others to ensure it is illegal to discriminate cause of their age, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability or just being retaliated against than this is a good way to notify the EEOC. The role of the EEOC is that they have the right to investigate all accusations of discriminations against anyone that is applying for a job or within the workplace. The EEOC also work to provide information to employers, and anyone alike on the issue of discrimination, they also can see legislation being created to cover those issues that need be changed to better ensure the opportunities for all to find gainful employment.
