Public Policy Proposal
The public policy that I will be addressing through my research will be education reform in the US. I am choosing this topic to analyze weather or not implementing education to federal responsibility would increase the level of national education. This is an ongoing problem, as many Americans believe that if we had a better system of education, not only the poverty rate but all other statistics would improve as well.

Intro
The United States of America has historically been a country where anyone can come to get an education and make a better life for themselves. It has been called “the land of the free”, allowing all citizens to have a chance for equal education. This idea of “equal opportunity” has been skewed over the past few centuries however. Since education is Constitutionally a state right, it has become difficult to guranttee the equal education of all US citizens. Funding among different state governemnts varies widely and can impact the level of education that state receieves. In recent years many states have had to cut funding from school systems to finance other government programs. This has resulted in the layoff of thousands of teachers nation wide. In order for the US to continue to be the place of interest of many aspiring students, it is imperitive that we adress the policy of education reform.
The public policy that is being addressed is that of education reform. The way that people are exposed to information will always be a strong topic of consideration. The issue is whether or not Obama’s “Race to the Top” program has been effective as of yet. The “Race to the Top” is a program by the U.S. Departmnet of Education funded through federal stimulus dollars. It is a school reform consisting of $4.35 billion in government money representing the largest school reform ever.... [continues]
