Thesis statement for Edgar Allen Poe: Edgar Allen Poe is deeply criticized for his use of over dramatic style from the gothic literature; he was also highly revered for passion and depressionistic style from his own depression, which gave him empathy from his life. Poe was well known for his works of art. He used Gothic Literature as his fashion. He was recognized most famously for “The Fall of the House of Usher” and “The Tell-tale Heart”. The best thing about Poe is that he puts every tiny detail in to his horrific writings, which showed terror, in his own pain and sometimes his desire for things he wished he could have in life, but ultimately didn’t. Personally I think Edgar was his best when he wrote “The Murders in the Rue Morgue”, like when he put in “The fruiterer!—you astonish me—I know no fruiterer whomsoever.” “The Raven” is another example of some of his best work. He was born on January 19th, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. When he was three he both of his parents died, and he was taken in by a rich tobacco trader named John Allan with his wife Frances Valentine Allan in Richmond, Virginia. He died in a small cottage in Bronx, New York on October 7th, 1849. The weirdest thing about his death is that no one knows what happened to him, he could have been killed, poisoned or he could have just had a heart attack, stroke, or a simple disease such as tuberculosis. Edgar Allen Poe was not just some bum that ended up dying on the streets. He was extremely necessary to create the kind of writings he did, I think if he had never created his stories and published them there wouldn’t even be a genre of dark, mysterious, or horror to this day.
