Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior, which may turn into abusive treatment. It may involve verbal harrassment, physical assault and may be directed persistently towards particular victims. It may also be triggered by race, religion, gender, sexuality, or ability. The "imbalance of power" is usually the reason it starts and the feeling of power is the reason it continues.
Bullying consists of three basic types of abuse: emotional, verbal, and physical. It typically involves intimidation of what your dealing with. Bullying can be defined in many different ways but its the same act no matter were it is. The UK currently has no legal definition of bullying, while some U.S. states have laws against it. Bullying ranges from simple one-on-one bullying, to more complex bullying in which the bully may have one or more helpers who may seem to be willing to assist the main bully in his bullying activities. Bullying in school and the workplace is also referred to as peer abuse. Bullying can occur in anywere people interact with each other, including: school, church, family, the workplace, home, and neighborhoods.Why certain people bully others depends on thier background, home life, and how they were raised. Some young people are bullied for no particular reason, but sometimes it's because they are different in some way, for example thier skin color, the way they talk, their size or their name. Sometimes young people are bullied because they look like they won't stand up for themselves. Certain people think bullying is just part of growing up and a way for young people to learn to stick up for themselves. But bullying can make young people feel lonely, unhappy, insecure and frightened. It makes them feel unsafe and think there must be something wrong with them. Usually they loose confidence in themselves and may not want to go to school any more. Bully's tend to all have some goal to thier bullying.
