Have you ever noticed a connection between a book and a movie? Well I have found just that between The Scarlet letter and Easy A. although the Scarlet Letter and Easy A share many similarities, they also differ in many ways as well. Both the movie and the book show the main character deal with struggles, but they deal with the struggles in their own ways. The Scarlet Letter and Easy A both show the effect of sin on a person. The two works show how hard the characters lives become after their sin. You also see guilt come into play. In the Scarlet Letter guilt takes a toll on Dimmesdale and drives him to death! In Easy A, guilt takes effect on Olive and causes her to tell the truth in the end. Altogether though, both the book and the movie have a happy ending. However, the Scarlet Letter and Easy A have a tremendous amount of differences. In The Scarlet Letter Hester accepted her sin from the very beginning for what it was. In Easy A, Olive did not want to accept her sin, and in by doing so commits another sin. Also in The Scarlet Letter Hester does not seek revenge, instead she keeps the identity of the father a secret. In Easy A, Olive seeks for revenge in the very end in attempt to clear her name. In conclusion, while the Scarlet Letter and Easy A both have many things in common, the two of them also have many differences from each other. In both works they are able to help people, but in Easy A, Olive also helps herself out. The two of them are very much alike but in the end under very tight microscope the two turn out to be completely different.
