Eastern and Western Philosophers
Both Eastern and Western philosophers study human beings and their actions.   Almost every philosopher’s based ideas from logic, wisdom, science, or religion.   Western philosophy based ideas with scientific facts, religion, moral values, and logical thinking; whereas, Eastern philosophy based ideas on past experiences and wisdom creating Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam, Zen and Ch’an Buddhism.   Both the East and West look for the same thing; answers to his or her questions relating to human relations.
The Eastern philosopher who grabbed my attention was Confucius who taught Confucianism in the early 500s B.C.   Confucius teachings are instilled in many humans today.   His beliefs balanced between social and political and he believed in past experiences and wisdom.   He was a humble person and taught students proper behavior and be respectful to parents, rulers, and family (History Wiz, 2008, para. 5).   A famous statement that he used in his teachings, according to Moore and Bruder is, “Do not do to others what you would not want them to do to you” (2008, pg. 545).   He also believed the examples of harmonious humans imitated by others; thus, creating a system of harmony throughout the land.

An educated Western philosopher, who was not well known, was Aesara.   She was a female from Lucania (Italy) from the era of the 300’s B.C. and she was known as a Pythagorean philosopher.   I believe that even with the little bits of evidence of her existence, her understanding of humans humanity provides individuals with good hearted intentions.   Aesara believed in a harmonious balance of life through music, math, physics, and science works (Moore and Bruder, 2008, pg. 280).   Aesara had the same compassion as Plato; the well-being of humans and his or her good life (Moore and Bruder, 2008, pg. 280).   Aesara stated the body’s soul was made...
