Earthquake resistance
The development of building construction is an evolution of our past engineer system. Our past failures locally and globally due to weak structures or lack of modifications have concluded to terrible losses of lives, structures and economic failures due to mother nature. Unaware of mother nature’s natural disasters, Americas frontline have turn the page to review past events that shook society and their well beings as well as study from it. In order for firefighters to be completely successful and ready in Southern California, the tendency to be completely knowledgeable will have to become a higher demand in the service. Only from past experiences can we deliver a successful future. Past natural disasters like Mexico City earthquake contains tons of information for any department not to overlook, especially on a similar region that continues to shake. Fortunately, the service will conduct recent inspections and provide more attention for certain buildings that have higher potential of failure in regards to its location, structure or the type of stress it could experience.
According to a study on a website whose organization USGS it states that “The earliest recorded evidence of an earthquake has been traced back to 1831 BC in the Shandong province of China, but there is a fairly complete record starting in 780 BC during the Zhou Dynasty in China.” In my opinion, any new study is conducted to prove the old evidence wrong. Therefore, its not surprising if earthquakes have been shaking humanity since the beginning. Through century after century these types of studies have repeatedly warn us to be prepared for what’s next. In the present era, due to modern modifications and newer building construction technology its clearer to see that some structures are better fire resistant as well as earthquake proficient.
