I.1 The Decision Environment
Decision Problem
The increase in the number of turists visiting Turkey each year has turned to an opportunity for the turism industry.Following information is a quote from www.Wikipedia.org which says “Foreign tourist arrivals increased substantially in Turkey between 2002 and 2005, from 12.8 million to 21.2 million, which made Turkey a top-10 destination in the world for foreign visitors. 2005 revenues were US$17.5 billion which also made Turkey one of the top-10 biggest revenue owners in the world. In2010 the number has reached to 28.6 million ” .
The information about the sector shows the positive increase very well which is a good indicator to supports the idea that investing in turism industry is a meaningful step for investing for the future well-being of the company.
To achieve a successful investment, the critical point is the decision of the location of the accomodation to best serve for the needs of the segmented group. Evaluation of decision criterias vary depending on the segmented group and the type of the accomodation (whether it is a seaside holiday hotel, a formal hotel for conference visitors, or an accomodation for historical place visitors and so on) So that the importance of each criteria heavily depends on the notion of the ideal accomodation format of the investor firm. Just in that point, the importance of a decision support system appears to create the best decision for the related accomodation format with the specificly defined scores for each decision criteria.
