In the United States, it seems that the only news we hear from our neighbor down south is related to bloodshed and drugs. Mexico is the equivalent to Wal Mart when it comes to drugs. Majority of the United States drug market comes through Mexico. It seems that Mexico and the United States may have to come into some sort of agreement to work together and try to put an end to this situation. Putting an end to this situation would stop the bloodshed and horror down south but it also may not be that easy. There are many aspects when it comes to the drug situation. Drug wars, drug law, drug transportation and drug sales are the main parts of the drug game. So I plan to discuss how the new drug crisis in North America is affecting the relationship between the two countries and how this problem has led to a new policy and relationship between Mexico and the United States.
Something that helps North America trade with eachother and stay connected is NAFTA. The reason it helps is because free trade compared to closed border policies, makes it easier for things to get exchanged across the borders of the countries in North America. Out of all parts of the globe, the countries envolved with NAFTA places the United States in the center of the world’s largest free trade bloc. It spans all of Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It links over 440 million people and produces hundreds of billions of dollars in trade ever year. These are very good things but the oppostition also makes valid points. Some of the points that the oppostioin can make are “The agreement has led to a net loss of 879,000 jobs in the U.S., and a decline in labor protection and degradation of the environment in Mexico” (1). Americans are losing their jobs to outsourcing which in return damages the econmy in the United States. Futhermore, for the country of Mexico, this is also bad because the conditions of their homeland is getting severlearly damaged by the addition of these factorys that... [continues]
