Drug abuse has become a major social problem in many parts of the world. Discuss the consequences of drug abuse and ways to deal with the problem.

Nowadays, we are all becoming aware of the fact that the number of drug users is increasing year by year. Most people, especially young generation try the drug to follow the example of their friends and unnoticeably they become victim of it. I would discuss the consequences of drug abuse and ways to deal with the problem. The consequences connected with the drug abuse are several. It causes health problems – HIV, for example. Uncontrolled use of drugs causes addiction -people cannot quit the habit even they are aware of their side effects.This leads to mental dependency and psychological problems such as hallucinations, anxiety, mood swings, headache and lack of appetite. There are many ways to solve the problems concerning the drug abuse. First, the government should open special hospitals for drug abusers and the treatment has to be free. Second, they have to be provided with psychological help as well. Third, parents have to be more cautious. It is their responsibility to know the company their children keep. Occasionally, parents compensate their lack of family time with huge pocket money and they cannot stop their misuse. In conclusion, drug abusers are many and the society has to choose effective ways to deal with the problem. But the most important key can be the parents by educating their children and pay more attention to them.
