Dreamers
Dreamers: people who are guided more by ideals than practical considerations. Robin S. Sharma says, “Dreamers are mocked as impractical. The truth is they are the most practical, as their innovation lead to progress and a better way of life for all of us.” All “dreamers” have a belief in what they want to accomplish, because they have the vision of the result to keep them motivated.
We were all once kids with those crazy ideas of becoming a superhero, or a princess in a huge castle. Our parents let us believe it, but they knew it would eventually not happen. The minds of children run free with imagination, and there is no stopping it. For example, before every shower I took, I would run around naked with a cape and scream “NAKED BOY!!!” Don’t ask me why, but the point is that my mind was all over the place. It paid off in the future because now I am really creative, and my mind is always open. Even though I didn’t achieve my dream of becoming the first naked superhero, I have the vision and strong belief to get me to where I want to be today. Unfortunately, life isn’t like Peter Pan where we can stay in our kid days for eternity.
Eventually we will need to face the real world and go to school, and start figuring out what we want to do for a living. College is the perfect breeding ground for this. For some people, I know they are just looking for partying and sex, but then you have the smart, bright mind like Beneatha. In A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, Beneatha dreams of going to college and becoming a doctor. Her brother, Walter, heckles her about how she should just give up her dream and become a housewife; but Beneatha doesn’t let this affect her because she is smart, confident, and a believer. She keeps her vision of where she needs to get and doesn’t let anybody alter her decision to make her dream a reality. College is done and it’s time to start your
