Child Development Center-Lunch
Karla walks into the office and sit down at her desk, and Elizabeth talks to her about plans for the future.
Elizabeth : What do you believe will be the future of American K-12 education and how will you make an impact on it?
Karla: I believe the standards provide a vision for learning and teaching, improvements are needed .But why we are waiting for the education system to change we must have strong and good teachers working with our children.
Elizabeth: Are you doing this for the money?
Karla: What money, Do you see any rich teachers ?
Elizabeth: No.
Karla: I am doing this because I love working with young children.
Elizabeth: What are your career possibilities ?
Karla: There are so many out there:
Elizabeth: Like what?
Karla: Kinder, Special Education, Preschool. Elementary Education and training.
Elizabeth: What would be your dream job ?
Karla: My dream job is what I am already doing?
Elizabeth: Working at a Child Development Center.
Karla: Yes, I have always wanted to work with young children. It truly warms my heart to see the smiles on their young faces to see them grow from infancy to the preschool stages.
Elizabeth: You could work somewhere else in the field of education with less stress and more money, there is so much you can do. Are you sure this is your dream job.
Karla: Why, are you asking me these questions?
Elizabeth: I just assumed last July when you announced you were going back to school and you were going to major in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, you were going to be leaving the Child Development Center.
Karla: Sometimes we go back to school because we want to better ourselves, the career possibilities will be endless because I will have the degree. But this has always been a dream of mine to work with young children from 0-5. These are the most important years in the life of a young child, they are like sponges and they retain more...
