Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a terrific civil rights leader. He is a role model that I look up to. He shows pride, courage, confidence, bravery, and determination. I chose him because of what he did. Martin Luther King Jr., fought to make sure that every person of color that was not respected, have the same rights as the whites. Although, he got his people the rights they deserved, it took a lot of work for him to do. He protested and boycotted, but that did not stop him from achieving his one true dream. The only thing he wanted more than life itself was to have his people being able to talk to the whites and going to the same restaurant as the whites. He wanted his people to share the same water fountain as the whites. Martin Luther King Jr. impacted the world with his “I Have a Dream” speech. His speech was said in front of the Lincoln Memorial, and in front of 200,000 people. The speech he gave would be remembered for decades. He explained how he wanted little black children to be able to play and hold hands with the white children. He wanted everybody to have equal rights. April 4, 1968 was the worst day ever. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot in the neck on the second floor balcony of his motel. His death impacted the world with sadness, but there was something good that came out of it. The people of color were starting to get their rights faster. If it wasn’t cause of his death, the people of color would have gotten their rights more lately. Martin Luther King Jr. is a preeminent role model. Boycotting and protesting took a lot of work, but that does not matter because he still got his people the rights they deserve. He made every person of color have the same rights as the whites. He risked his life a lot, but he still managed to give his people freedom.
