Evolution of Counselling over the year (Growth)
The historical development of counseling may conveniently be classified into four periods.
Period 1
The first period in which the connect of counseling took shape can be traced back to somewhere between 1850 to 1900. During the letter part of the ninetieth century far –reaching innovation in the field of psychology were made . the very first psychological laboratory was set up at Leipzig by Wilhelm Wundt in 1879 . it was followed by Stanley   hall (1844-1924) who started the first psychological laboratory in the U.S.A in 1883 . In 1895 George Merrill established the grist systematic vocational programmed ohm san Francisco. the first psychological coin was found by lighter wither in1895 which started the beginning of the counsel ling movement   J.B mined established and directed the free clinic in mental development at the university of Minnesota in 1990 however .it was fesses b Davis who first used the term counseling he set up the educational career-counseling centre in Detroit in Detroit in 1898 president of Chicago university .William Rainey Harper stressed the importance of guidance in his annual address on 1899 thereby giving importance to the guidance movement.
Period 2
The second period for the evolution of counseling can be marked from 1900 to 1930. During the first few years of the twentieth century following significant events took place;
  1. The first convention of the international congress of psychoanalysis was held at salzberg.
  2. Stanley hall invited carl gustav jung to deliver a lecture on counseling at the clack university.
  3. Mantal hygiene movement was launched by Clifford beers with his epoch-making book . the mind that found itself .
  4. Rec. wood wircester advocated the use of psychological principle in pastoral counseling .
  5. Bunet-simonb tests if intelligence were adapted to American conditions about this time.
