In the US, it has been estimated that 9.8% of women had experienced abuse within the previous two years. An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of abuse and physically assaulted by an intimate partner each year. According to experts, instances of domestic violence across the board are under reported for a variety of reasons. There are about 1,500 shelters for battered women in the United States. There are more resources to go with than going to a shelter. You could go to family member, call police, friends or co-worker etc. You should go anywhere that's safer for you and your children if children are involved. Domestic violence highly impacts the victim, abuser, and the bystander. Majority of people always assume that domestic violence is just physical abuse. Domestic violence is more than just physical. Domestic violence can be considered as verbal, isolation, sexually and even controlling your whereabouts making most of your decisions for you. All that basically falls under domestic violence is when your partner women/ men wants’ more control over you than your are willing to give. You and your partner don’t have to just be married to experienced domestic violence. You may be may be married heterosexual, same sex, living together, separated or dating. Some abuse may come from the partner being out of controlled. The abuser may have been high or drunk before they hit their partner. People aren't randomly picked to be abused or killed by domestic violence. Both women and men can witness abuse or experienced domestic violence. Women are likely to be abused because of weakness or fear of a man with power to take your life at any time. That still isn't a reason for a man to abuse a woman. Victims can be of any age, young victims can abused uh7yu66i9in high school relationships, college relationship even at home abuse within fathers and daughters. Domestic violence can happen to...
