In recent years, there has been a heated debate about whether the advertisement is the only reason for the high selling of the products. Some people deem that the function of advertisements is to amuse people, but others believe that ads can exert positive influence on people’s daily life. In this essay, I will present both sides and establish my own perspective.
Nowadays, whenever we turn on our television we can find the screen is telecasting advertisements which could let people feel very annoying. On the one hand, most of the current ads are unrealistic because many companies were exaggerating their products which can attract people to purchase goods they don’t really need and, also some of these unreliable advertisements will influence customers’ consumption willingness. On the other hand, it seems to be an increasing tendency that more and more companies prefer to aim at children. Since their lack of judgment and common sense and also full of curiosity of everything, children were easily dizzied by some puffery. For instance, children will ask for an expensive toy just because they see it on TV commercials, and sometimes children will imitate the dizzying activities when they saw some special effects from the commercials.
However, we cannot ignore the bright sides of advertisements because some advertisements can be very instructive. As we all know, companies will show as many details as possible in a product’s commercial and that can help people to make choice. Also public advertisements will exert tremendous positive influence on people’s daily life even children’s growth, such as telling people how to help each other and how to judge right from wrong.
Overall, in order to prevent people to dizzy by those various commercials, all of us should take a rational attitude when it comes to this issue. [continues]
