Effect of overpopulation on daily life

            It seems obvious that one of the biggest factors contributing the destruction of our way of life is population growth. The world population is currently increasing by around 80 million people per year and this causes many social and pollution problems. The main purpose of this essay is to discuss the three main effects of overpopulation.

  Firstly, the effects of overpopulation are absolutely felt on today's economy.  When countries become overpopulated, it is hard for them to feed their own dwellers and can not even think of producing surplus to export. This contributes to governments relying on foreign debt to save people from starving. Everyday, 40,000 children die due to malnutrition and related diseases and approximately 150 million children at any given time in the world are suffering from poor health because of food shortages. Furthermore, when countries become overpopulated, the unemployment rate rises because there are not enough jobs available to support the population.  This not only elevates the number of homeless people that there are, it also raises crime levels because people need to steal to survive.

  Secondly, there are quite a few very specific negative effects of overpopulation to environment. One of the most obvious effects is the
substantial increase of pollution or garbage, especially solid waste. Air pollution also increases because industrial factories have to multiply in
number or scale in order to meet the demands of the population. In addition, since more and more people means needing more and more land to live on, natural resources and habitats of plants and animals are consumed at a rate that does not allow for natural sustainability. Energy resources are also depleted because more and more people are in need of it.
