Have you ever tried any methods to increase you learning efficiency? Do you have adequate sleep and regular exercises even you have lots of assignments and tests? For me, I have at least 8 hours for sleep per day and I am a badminton team member of my secondary school before and I still have the habits of doing exercises at least three times per week. So, today I would like to persuade my audience to have adequate sleep and to have regular exercises so as to help all of you to have better performance in CIE.
In nowadays’ society, people have inadequate sleep is just a common phenomenon that mainly due to the heavy workload. To have adequate sleep, that means a person should have at least 7 to 8.5 hours for sleep seems to be mission impossible. But what is the effect of have inadequate sleep on learning? Take the survey result of The Society of Professional Sleep Research as an example, a psychologist who called Jennifer Pei Zika had did a research related to the time for sleep of the students of University of Surrey in Britain in 2007. The survey result shows that the students’ time for sleep and the GPA of students have got a great relevance. The result shows that the average GPA of the students that have inadequate sleep is 2.84 while the students that have adequate sleep got an average GPA of 3.18. Jennifer Pei Zika had also compared those students in the high school credits and found that since those students that have inadequate sleep have entered University, their average GPA had dropped one subgrade, their results were even lower than the average GPA of the new students. Simply to say, inadequate sleep will bring negative consequences on your learning and your result. According to Daisy Hung, the Current Professor and Director of the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience of the National Central University, had stressed the importance of sleep on learning.
