ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I wish to acknowledge Philothea Lay Missionaries and the Catholic Scholarship Programme for enabling me through my studies at Amani Training and Counseling Center, by paying my school fees without delay. This has allowed me to study smoothly without any fees problems.

I appreciate the highly dedicated and talented facilitators, administrators, subordinate staff at Amani Counselling and Training Center, for the efforts they are putting on to ensure that I learn comfortably in a warm class setting, full of love. In particular, I appraise Abraham Wambua who taught with a lot of zeal to enrich me with a lot of knowledge of the African view to not only Human growth and Development, but other issues. With his input, I developed a better situational understanding of some of the experiences of the Post election crisis. Particularly it helped me to develop hope that all would be well, once we were able to put our ideas together.

Equally, I appreciate the efforts of the Librarian, Stella. She is key to my access to literal knowledge that I referred to make my work complete.

I wish to appreciate my fiancée, Elizabeth Mumo and my daughter for the wonderful support emotionally and socially that makes me smile after tiresome days, preparing this paper, amidst work.

I wish to acknowledge my employer, Salesians of Don Bosco for granting permission to study this course. With this opportunity, they accorded me one of the most important asset – time – and one that I am training to improve on as a student counselor.

Accordingly, the paper considers Erikson’s model and the Kisii conceptualizations to offer comparisons, as well as offer critical analysis of Erikson’s, while factoring in the Kisii community’s facet to human growth and development; both of which offer a lifespan conceptualization. Within the context of counseling, the approach to lifespan development is clearly important in offering great insight to the practitioners, hence the paper will also seeks to find out how one can assist clients within the development, in trying to gain some understanding of how each developmental domain may be shaped by the forces of nature or nurture. The background of the discussions in this paper are that human growth and development in the...
