My book is called Divergent by Veronica Roth. It is 487 pages. How would you feel if the rest of your life would be chosen based on a technological simulation? How would you feel if you had to choose either bravery, knowledge, service, honesty, or peace? What if the choice you made meant no going back and maybe even no family? Join Tris as she makes the ultimate choice. In a future dystopian Chicago, society is broken into five factions: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite, each specializing in a specific trait. Children are brought up in their own factions, learning the ways of their people, until their 16th year where they chose which faction they will spend the rest of their life in, never going back. For most, their original faction is their choice, but the daring choose a different path. Expected to stay in her faction of Abnegation where she has been taught to be selfless, Beatrice Prior must choose between her heart and her family. After her choice, Beatrice, now Tris, discovers that challenges wait just around the corner. No longer having a family, being pushed to pain every day, tough friendships, and a mysterious boy are only a few. Trying to fit in, Tris must pass initiation in order to stay in a faction. In the process, more goes on beneath the surface: revengeful actions, daring choices, hidden truths, surprising romances, and the biggest secret that Tris must keep to herself. She has been warned that it would bring danger to herself and everyone she knows. But, when society threatens everything she knows, her darkest secret may just save her. “ONE CHOICE CAN TRANSFORM YOU.”
