There are six varieties of tea: black; green; white; yellow; oolong and pu-erh, and according to the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, more than 3 million tons of tea is produced annually; the majority of it from China, India, Kenya, Sri-Lanka and Turkey. Tea is distributed through retail, wholesale and distribution channels. Distributors stock large inventories to supply to large retail vendors such as grocery stores, hotels, and restaurant chains.
