Job description

Usefulness

This document is very useful as it lets the person who is applying for the job what they should expect when working in the job role.

Strengths

The strengths of a job description are that it tells a potential employee what the job role involves and how to apply. For example a teaching job would involve dealing with kids and carry out various activities.

Weaknesses

A weakness could be that the job description might not give applicant enough or the right information needed. For example it may not tell an applicant all the tasks that need to be carried out.

My opinion

In my opinion this document is very important as without this document potential applicants would not be able to see if the job is most suitable for them. Also they would not be able to see the tasks that needed to be done in order to successfully carry out the job role. I think this document could be combined with the person specification doc as both these documents make the potential applicants know what is expected of them.

Usefulness

This document is useful as it lets the applicant know what is required from them in order to get the job that is being advertise. Strengths

Is that it tells the applicant what skills and knowledge is needed in order to be eligible for the job role being advertised. So for a teaching job role the employer would ask for a teaching degree and experience in the teaching area.

Weaknesses

A weakness of this document could be that the employer may expect too much from the applicant therefore putting applicants of from applying for the job or may not be able to find anyone with the right skills needed.

My opinion

This document is also important as the employer would want applicants who know they have the skills and knowledge needed to do the job. And as i said before i think this document would be best combined with job description as both of these documents give the applicant give the information and what is required of them..

CV

Usefulness

The CV is useful as it tells the employer about applicant’s previous employers they have worked for, the experience they have gained, the qualifications they have, and their hobbies.

Strengths

The strength of this document is that it gives the applicant a chance to provide the employer with information about themselves therefore making it easier for the employer to decide the right applicants for the job.

Weaknesses

The weaknesses for this document are that the applicants CV could contain lies. For example the qualifications they have achieved may be a lot lower than the qualifications they put on their CV another example could be that the applicant has used a or copied someone else’s CV. Another weakness could be that other applicant may be better at writing a CV than others. The employer might also find this document boring as every applicant will similar structured CV.

My opinion

I think this document is not that important and is very time consuming for the applicant. I think this document is not appropriate for the recruitments process as it can be very boring and does not give the applicant the chance to advertise themselves in such a way that it enables them to separate themselves from their competitors.

Cover letter

Usefulness

This is useful as it gives the applicant the chance to capture the employer’s attention with the knowledge and experience they have in that job role and the reasons why they are applying.

Strengths

Is that it gives the applicant a chance to out shine there competitors as it gives them a chance to introduce themselves the employer and for the employer to get a better understanding of who they are. It also gives the applicant a chance to tell the employer what they know about the business and its operation. For example a teacher would tell the employer about...
