Roseanne
Barr is a famous feminist comedian and actress who changed television history forever. Things for Roseanne weren’t always all fame and glory as she suffered from a mental illness called dissociative identity disorder among other mental illnesses. Dissociative identity disorder is a mechanism created to disassociate ones self from traumatic or painful events that usually take place during childhood. When the mechanism takes place, two or more different personalities take over a person’s behavior.

Roseanne was brought up Jewish in Salt Lake City, Utah with her mom, dad, brother and sister. She lived in a very religious neighborhood that was Mormon based. She also has a Nazi neighbor that had came straight from Germany that reportedly would always make remarks to her about being Jewish and would talk to her about Hitler. Roseanne has made claims that her DID come from different things, one of which started in a church level.

After learning a little bit about Roseanne Barr’s background I found a few things that I think could have caused her diagnosis of DID. One short documentary I watched about Roseanne was one of her

The name of the movie I chose to do this assignment on is Fight Club released October 15, 1999. I choose this movie because the main character has several disorders that the text discusses. Ranging from insomnia, dissociative identity disorder (DID), to hallucinations. I believe the main mental illness implied throughout the movie was (DID). He surfed from extreme hallucinations which caused him to see his other personality as a real person, who was actually his best friend named Tyler Durdnt. He was so unaware that he had a disorder he would actually argue and get into fistfights with Tyler. Which turns out he was actually fighting himself.…

The Yellow Wallpaper: A Woman 's Struggle Pregnancy and childbirth are very emotional times in a woman 's life and many women suffer from the "baby blues." The innocent nickname for postpartum depression is deceptive because it down plays the severity of this condition. I’ve been using cannabis since the final week of my 13th year. I was actually the last of my inner circle to try it. One day two of my best (only) friends came into school acting goofier than usual. I asked them what they had been up to and sure enough, they had both just finished getting high for the first time. This terrified me. I was barely getting used to my newly grown body hair, while other kids my age were already engaging in the use of illegal substances. With my anti-drug propaganda filled mind and the D.A.R.E acronym still apart of my moral code, I looked down upon my friends. I told them that they were stupid and that smoking pot was stupid. Little did I know, I had no idea what I was talking about. After more thought on the subject, it hit me. What the hell did I know? Up to that point, I had spent the majority of my life wetting the bed. Who am I make judgments on something I’ve never tried, let alone other peoples lives? So I took off my D.A.R.E t-shirt for the last time and told my friends that I was interested in trying that weed nonsense they had been raving about. So we threw a sleepover at my place and snuck out of the house at around two in the morning. We walked to an empty tall-grassed field in my neighborhood and sat in the middle of it. We all agreed that if a car passed by, we would lay on our backs until the coast was clear.…

The mind is certainly the most terrifying place a man could ever visit. Every human mind that is active has its fatal flaw. Diagnosis creators themselves have their own as well. They are the minds that have the unsatisfiable hunger to categorize every human being that still has breath. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) gives you approximately a fifty percent chance of being diagnosed with some “mental disorder” throughout your lifetime. It is absolutely ridiculous that there are approximately three hundred disorders listed. The Psychopath Test, written by Jon Ronson, recognizes the faults in psychiatry and psychology. Although psychopaths are known for their mass murderers, psychologists are making…

The scary movie created by Alfred Hitchcock stars a bizarre man with dissociative identity disorder named Norman Bates. Norman decides to get rid of his possessive mother, but ‘spare’ the mother's corpse and mummifies it. The corpse of the mother gives him the illusion that she is still alive, causing him to continue communicating with his ‘mother’ even when she is dead. Another way to manage the fact that his mother is dead is to completely take over her persona. That is where the split personality disorder comes in. In Hitchcock’s film ‘Psycho’, Norman Bates, who is the film's antagonist, can be characterized as being bizarre, unstable, and protective.…
