Discuss the Relationship Between Ability and Biographical Characteristics with Behaviour at Work.
Topic: Discuss the relationship between ability and biographical characteristics with behaviour at work.

Nowadays, organization behaviors are very important part of manage employees. There are many kind of behaviors we need to learn and realized. Such as, the individual, the group, the organization and so on. This discussion I am going to represent is about the relationship between ability and biographical characteristics of individual behaviors. Because individual differences in the from of ability and biographical characteristics affect employees performance and satisfaction. (pg44, Robbins, S., Judge, TA., B., Waters-Marsh, T. 2008, Organisational Behaviors). There are two important implications: first, the idea that personality is stable and enduring implies that it is possible to identify an individual’s ability and bipgraphical characteristics. The second implication is that if the characteristics are identified they can be used to predict the person’s behavioural dispositions.

Ability refers to an individual’s capacity to perform the various task in a job. An individual’s overall abilities are essentially made up of two part of factors: intellectual ability and physical ability. In psychology ability has much more rigorous meaning than that used in everyday conversation. Biographical characteristics would be an employee’s age, gender, marital status, ethnicity and race, and length of service with an organization.

Just as people can be distinguished in terms of their physical characteristics, individuals tend to think in slightly different ways, and experience and interpret their environment in a unique fashion. (David J Edwards, Organisational behaviour and analysis, 1998). Most of us recognize this in others, and routinely use words to distinguish people in terms of their mental characteristics, says for example that someone is moody, likely, morose. A person’s job performance sometimes fits ability-job who has biographical characteristics.

These two distinctive characters would describe the personalities of those two individuals. However, psychologists are more particular and define personality as a dynamic with the inclusion of an organized set of characteristics possessed by an individual that distinctively or uniquely influences his or her motivations,…

The trait theory, a psychometric approach to personality, is concerned with the differences between people and how the combinations of different traits make up a personality which is unique to each individual and is fixed and stable throughout their life. It focuses on identifying and measuring the characteristics that people possess in order to predict how a person will react in certain situations.
