Scheduling my work helps me plan out important educational and social events so that I don’t miss out on any important occasions happening in my life be it at home or at school. Apart from this, assignments get done in time and are handed in on time. In this way, I compromise neither my social life nor my school work. After all there is the saying that goes “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”.…

We all know the sound that is very familiar to us: tick, tick, tick. No, it's not the sound of our favorite movie coming on; It's time moving on. Time; if properly managed increases productivity and brings about opportunities for growth; On the flip side, if time is not handled properly, will bring about disadvantages to both the physiological and psychological self (Leatz & Stolar, 1993). Time is a unique resource as we cannot rent, hire, buy or otherwise obtain more time as once gone, it will never come back (Drucker 2002). One of the most common afflictions of stress is due to ineffective time management. As a result, ineffective time management or the lack of it will usually lead to one feeling the effects of stress due to closing deadlines or too much procrastination, thus stress and time management can be said to be closely interrelated.…
College life can be a very exciting time in a student’s life. Students are taking the initiative to better themselves, whether it is for a personal goal, a passion for a better career, or a choice for those who want to gain a higher level of education. Adjusting to college life can be quite the challenge, if students don’t manage their time accordingly. The college class is now a class of people ranging from the new student, to students who have been out of school for years, and have to juggle a family life, that includes a spouse, children, and or fulltime job. Pacing in the classroom is the rate at which a teacher goes through a lesson in the classroom. One of the challenges that teachers are faced with deciding at what speed to present the material to the students. Teachers have to pace themselves so students can keep up with all the information and not feel that the lesson is moving too fast or feel like it is never ending. Teachers need to learn how to pace themselves so they do not spend too much time on one lesson and not enough for another.…
Research into student time management for the LearnHigher CETL has been carried out by members of the University Study Advice team at the University of Reading. We are a centrally-situated and primarily student-facing learning development service, providing support for students to develop their learning practices through one-to-one advice sessions, generic and embedded workshop teaching, and paper and online self-help guides and resources. Our constituency includes students from all disciplines and all levels of academic study, from Foundation degrees and part-time Certificate courses through to PhD students. We have regular direct contact with a diverse student community, including international and mature students, and students with Specific Learning Difficulties. Some are studying part-time, while others are on placements or are distance learners. Given this privileged, direct and everyday access to a broad demographic of students, their experience of managing time at university and the effectiveness of interventions, it was appropriate for us to adopt an action research approach. As a consequence, we have established an iterative cycle of reflection on our own practice to motivate and identify areas for study. The research projects listed below were carried out at the University of Reading, 2005-2010.…
