Dining In Script
1700 (Start of Social Hour)
The cocktail period provides an excellent forum for fellowship and allows the President, 1SG, and Guest Speaker the opportunity to circulate among the guests. Conversation should be short and light. Each mess member should talk with as many comrades and guests as possible.

1750
Form the receiving line from right to left in order of rank with the president on the right of the receiving line with the guest of honor on his left. The Adjutant’s (Dining In NCOIC) position is on the right of the Guest Speaker. As each member of the mess or guest comes abreast of the Adjutant, they announce their names, but do not shake hands with the Adjutant. The mess members should never assume that the Adjutant automatically remembers their name, so they should introduce themselves. The Adjutant, in turn, introduces them to the Guest Speaker of the mess. Mess members always face the person being greeted and promptly move to the next person. Engage in conversation with the members of the receiving line only when delays occur. Do not bring drinks, cigarettes, cigars, etc., through the receiving line.

The context of "Turning Off, Dining In" would be when the author realized that everyone at the dinner table was preoccupied with something other than having a family dinner. I have chosen to write a paper about the history of running cadences in the Marine Corp. Running cadence is the number of times either your left or right foot hits the ground in one minute (Life123, par 1). In the armed services, a military cadence or cadence call is a traditional call-and-response work song sung by military personnel while running or marching (Military Cadence, par 1). This is an important topic to both the Marine Corp and the whole nation. Without the United States Marine Corp our country wouldn’t be what it is today. Without the Marine Corp who would we be? Who would defend our nation and its freedoms? Marines promise to win our nation 's battles. Marines develop quality citizens. These are the promises the Marine Corps makes to our nation and to our Marines (Marine Corps Purpose, par 1).…

Before this course, my conception of the roles military officers in society and government had was that they were distinct individuals of a higher moral and ethical caliber. With these values came a voluntary but clear support of their chain of command and mission to defend the citizens of the United States of America. Prior to attending West Point, I observed an awkward separation between members of the armed forced and civilians due to lack of knowledge and familiarity of both worlds. Therefore, while I was aware that…

In 1973, the Army (and the noncommissioned officer corps) was in disorder. Of the Post-Vietnam developments in American military policy, the most influential in determining the Army was the advent of the Modern Volunteer Army. With the beginning of the Noncommissioned Officer Candidate Course, countless young sergeants were not the skilled trainers of the past and were only trained to perform a specific job; squad leaders in Vietnam. The noncommissioned officer system was under development and the army was rewriting its Field Manual 22-100, Leadership, to set a guide for leaders to follow.…

    California Highway Patrol

ENGL 1301 Research Paper The California Highway Patrol Post 9/11, I was given the opportunity to work in partnership with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) department. I always had the utmost respect for personnel in uniform and being able to work side by side with police officers has made me respect them even more. To me, the CHP is one of the most elite forces that existsthroughout California and our nation. Their history and ability to provide so much security and protection for the citizens of Californiamakes them some of the best men and women in uniform. The CHP has multiple programs and Task Forces designed to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security to the people of California. The accomplishments that women have achieved, in more than 30 years, in the department is simply amazing. The CHP department has also had the misfortune of encountering road bumps within the members of the force. There have been many cases where officers have decided to break the same laws that they swore to enforce. Before relocating to Texas, I wanted to become a member of the CHP. However, that is currently not possible, so I can just research their rich history and background and to be a part of them that way. The mission and organizational goals of the California Highway Patrol are to provide the highest level possible of safety, service, and security to the people of California. Safety, service, and security is the CHP motto. “This is accomplished through five departmental goals. Maximize Service to the Public and Assistance to Allied Agencies To maximize service to the public in need of aid or information, and to assist other public agencies when appropriate. Manage Traffic and Emergency Incidents - To promote the safe and efficient movement of people and goods throughout California, and to minimize exposure of the public to unsafe conditions resulting from emergency incidents and highway impediments. There is so…
