Digital Revolution
Classification Essay The digital revolution has been impacting the societies and communities we live in for a while. The digital revolution has impacted many aspects of the world we live in such as health care, communication, robots, and security. One large aspect in which the digital revolution has effected has been human relationships. The digital revolution will continue to negatively effect relationships among humans in the areas of school, work, and home. In the current era, almost everyone uses technology to interact with one another in some form or another. Technology has made both a negative and positive impact on our society, although it has made a mainly negative impact on the relationships among people. In school teachers are turning towards technology to aid their teaching. This can be beneficial for the information getting across to the students, but it changes the relationship from teacher student to technology student. This fact has effected people emotionally in a negative way. “As fact as we are connecting digitally, so fast are we drifting apart emotionally” (Sharma). Not only does technology effect the students in schools, it also effect our employees at work. The business men and women in large corporations have decreased their amount of direct communication greatly. With the use of e-mail, phone calls, faxes, google docs, google calendar employees need virtually no face to face communications. The causes misunderstandings between different parties as well as a dependence on technology. When the technology fails to work, they feel stranded because they have to switch back to face to face communication. Overall a loss of human contact and experience with face to face communication cause the population to digress. Technology also effect the home life of the current population. The youth of this era as well as the adults, are more dependent on technology to keep them entertained while at home. Whether it be watching youtube videos until midnight or sitting on Facebook in your room until your eyes are sore, the human contact has decreased.
Children are spending more time texting their friends, playing x box, or sitting on social networking sites and leaving less time to spend with their friends playing outside or their parents. This results in children lacking the important communication and social skills that it takes to thrive in both school and work (Conley 55). All in all the the digital revolution has a negative impact on the communication and relationships between humans. Students, teachers, employees, and families are all being effected by the digital revolution. Whether it be learning information in school online, making business transactions through technology, or being distracted and occupied at home by computers, humans are loosing their ability to communicate and interact effectively. If this continues we are headed towards a future with minimal human communication and weakened human relationships.

The first, and what I believe to be the most significant impact our technological environment has made, is the damage it has caused for human capabilities. In the video Dretzin and Rushkoff visit MIT to interview students about multi-tasking and what the students believe about the quality of their own work when multi-tasking. Not surprisingly, most of them believed they could maintain the quality of their work, even while performing several other actions simultaneously. However after testing some of the best multi-tasking students, the results proved otherwise. Students’ quality of work and their speed at which they can complete tasks were obviously impaired. Which, leads me to another impairment, I believe is caused by being so tech-savvy, our attention spans. Another point brought up in the video, is the decreasing attention span of technology users everywhere. Our ability to retrieve almost any information with touch of a couple buttons has caused us to lose our focus. With many devices, come many distractions. I myself am I even fighting the urge to check up on all my social media outlets, as I am writing this essay. So from personal experience I can say that all this technology has definitely made a huge impact on my attention span, work habits, and quality of work. I believe technology has had the same negative impact on the rest of my generation as well.…

At first people thought that technology have only positive side, but now some researches shows otherwise. First, and I believe most impactful, is the wave of accessible technology all around us. It seems like a child has an iPhone before they are even taught how to ride a bike. This is concerning for me because I have witness for myself how these technological gadgets can create barriers and walls amongst family members. If you visit a typical family household today, you will probably find a TV in every room, some kind of game system in the children’s room, and notice that almost every member of the family has some kind of handheld device. This prevents and hinders genuine communication and interest amongst family members. And there is no sign of it ending. In fact, the opposite is true. I believe, in 50 years we will all be so consumed by these accessible technological devices that it will consume much of our lives and weaken the family structure. To support my ideas, a BBC News article states, “It is possible to imagine families 50 years from now interacting online through avatar websites like Second Life, perhaps even sharing virtual family meals.”…

For instance, having access technology almost 24/7 allows us to learn a lot more electronic and digital skills such as programing and virtual design. As well, it has enabled us to find ways to greatly benefit peoples lives through medical means, such as medicine research, cancer treatment, and robotic limbs. It also has become a source of connection for people living in different countries. Many peoples lives have changed by meeting unknown relatives, life long friends, and significant others through technology. However, having so much technology making our lives easier causes us to become increasingly dependent on it. People are so used to having common tasks done with a click of a button, that we forget how to live normally, performing our own actions by ourselves. A major example of this is communication; with apps like Facebook, Instagram, and twitter, we are able to connect and talk to hundreds of people without even saying one word out loud. We have become so addicted to online presence that we forget how to talk to friends in real life. Another negative effect of technology in our society is that we have become more prone to online hackers and predators. These hackers are able to take our personal information and steal identities, corrupt businesses, and invade…

Technology has grown so much over the years and you can do so much with it now. You can read books, shop, and play games without having to be in contact with others. This limitation of human contact has had a negative effect on people's lives. The reason why it has negative effects on people's lives is because some people never get that fresh air anymore and some people do not know how to act around others. Since technology has grown, several people are less likely to leave their houses. Those people who get so caught up in the Internet world never want to leave their homes and go out into the real world. In our generation, children would rather play video games than go outside and ride bikes. It is not all children that do this but it is most of the children and…

Put. It. Down. Whether it is a cell phone, a computer, a tablet or a TV, people in today 's technological world always have their eyes in front of some kind of screen. Due to the misuse of technology, people today do not consider their surroundings important. Technology is everywhere, giving anyone who comes within its reach access to all kinds of information. There is evidence that shows technology is more efficient to use, but people pay too much attention to it rather than to each other. Society has shifted to a time where talking to someone face-to-face is no longer required, and this shift has become a growing problem in today’s world. Technology is being improved every day, but the new advancements being created are causing people to lose basic essentials needed for life. Rather than allowing technology to change important priorities, society should limit their use of technology and consider it as an asset to living a normal life rather than a necessity. Technology has provided society with different ways of communication, but the excessive use of technology is causing a decrease in human interaction and the public’s human intelligence level, leaving children today to live a computer-only lifestyle.…

Technology has evolved immensely during the past few decades. It’s everywhere, and everyone uses it; technology is a necessity of life. It lights homes, makes transportation easy, makes research simple, and entertains. Although it has many benefits, technology also has negative side effects. Phones and TVs have become a major distraction from everyday things like students’ homework, adults’ work, and driving. There are hundreds of car accidents caused by texting and driving. Furthermore, technology is addicting- society has become too dependent on it. A day without iPhones would probably be almost impossible for some. The next generation is being raised amongst all of this technology, and they aren’t being taught like the past generations were. Will this result in catastrophe later? Technology affects our lives in a major way. It is hard to go anywhere and not see the changes technology has bought to the American people now in year 2012.
