Abstract

This descriptive research aimed to determine the difficulties encountered by the BSCSM students during their Practicum 1. This was conducted during the first semester, academic year 2011-2012. The study found that, generally, the difficulties encountered by the BSCSM students during their Practicum 1 as to Social Aspect was that they found it hard to adapt on the first days of their on-the-job training; in terms of Financial Aspect, they have experienced shortage of allowance due to having doubled expenses with their fare, food and other personal necessities (complying a scheduled duty whether before or after regular classes); as with Health Aspect, there were times that they didn’t have enough rest because they were pressured to work overtime for the establishment’s lack of staff; and as to Establishment Aspect, they were not able to perform well the tasks assigned to them because of the lack of information and orientation from the staff of the establishment and were assigned tasks which are not considered part of their training.
