Revising can simply be said to be a process of rereading, reflecting upon and improving drafts or drafting materials. This process often leads to rewriting, more revision and more rewriting it also involve asking questions like Is the Paper Focused?, Is the Paper Well Structured and Well Organized?, Is the Paper Complete?, Is the Paper Coherent? Etc.

Editing is the process clarifying your paper for language error. Editing involves scrutinizing issues such as language choices, the clarity and conciseness of your writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. Editing considers individual elements and details very closely.
What a writer does when editing and when revising
During Revision, the writer focuses on the whole paper he is revising and not individual words because revising requires a big-picture view of a paper and looking at it from a holistic, visual and organizational point of view. In revising a paper, the writer focuses on the following:

Complete
Coherent
In Editing, the writer focuses on individual elements in a paper. A writer takes time to scrutinize issues such as language choices, the clarity and conciseness, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure in a paper. In editing the writer considers the following issues:

Tone and Voice
Denotations and Connotations
Trigger Words
Synonyms
Clarity and Conciseness
How Long I expect editing and revising should take
To me, considering the requirement of revising and editing I would say that editing should take more time than revising. Due to the fact that editing deals with element and details it should take like an hour and half or two hours in order to obtain prosperity in a paper editing while revising should take like 30mins to an hours to properly ascertain mistakes and correct it accordingly.

Actually, my question about this week assigned reading is, how can someone edit an essay of 500 words without having some errors after editing.

To clarify, writing multiple drafts helped me refine my thinking and make my points vibrant to my audience. My first drafts usually included all of my thoughts down on paper, usually an outline with minimal quotes. The next draft looked more complete with more quotes and analysis.
