In the Christmas Carol people see Ebenezer Scrooge as the antagonist of the story, the same can be said for Mr. Krabs in Spongebob Squarepants. Throughout both stories people see the grumpiness, money hoarding, and lack of respect for others around them but at the end of the day they are different people. In the Christmas Carol Ebenezer Scrooge is known as the grumpy and stingy old man whose attitude seems to get worse when Christmas comes around. With Mr. Krabs in Spongebob he is known as the penny pincher of Bikini Bottom. Both of them seem like they have similar characteristics but they are also different in their own way. Throughout Spongebob everyone sees the good side of Krabs although there are very few of them with Scrooge he realizes his mistakes with the help of the three ghosts and changes his ways to become a nicer and more generous person. Scrooge and Mr.Krabs act the same but one of them realizes the error of their way.
In watching Spongebob everyones immediate thought of Mr. Krabs is that he is a greedy and stingy old man who is inconsiderate of others around him but look a little deeper and there are some good qualities in him. In the episode called Krusty Love, Mr. Krabs falls in love with Spongebobs driving instructor Mrs. Puff. “Mr.Krabs spent $100,000 on the first date with Mrs. Puff. Next time he has Spongebob be in charge of his wallet so that way he does not spend too much money. He has Spongebob buy a multitude of things and is hot and cold with him. In the end though Mrs. Puff says she did not want all these gifts and dumps him” (Spongepedia). Even though in the end Krabs ends up getting dumped he had no control over how much money he was spending because he was in love. “This shows that even though Krabs can be stingy when it comes to money he is not heartless, like how he cares about Spongebob Squarepants and dotes on his daughter Pearl Krabs”(Spongebob Squarepants Characters and Friends).
