Abstract
Studies of psychological problems such as stress, anxiety and depression have always been carried out. However, results vary from group to groups. What probably is crystal clear is that problems do exist in the working adult community. In this study, I have identified a challenge facing adults and its consequences to the individual itself and the people around them. There are also studies that indicate that there is an increasing number of working adults who are facing problems in Singapore. What actually is required now is to invest energy into finding out what causes this increase and how do we manage them so that Singapore will be a better country.
A challenge that faces working adults in the Singaporean Society and its implications
A life of a working adult is not easy. They constantly have to manage between the struggle of having to complete unlimited tasks at work and having to be in charge of their own family. It is very difficult to handle the pressure.
Working Adults are normally those aged 20 to 40 years, where they are at the early stage of adulthood. Just when they have just started their adulthood journey, they have to balance between family and work.
Thus, there are a lot of challenges of a working adult. One of the most important challenges is stress. Due the very high working demand and the increasing number of elderly in Singapore, adults are expected to be able to handle their workload and their responsibility as the head of the family. Thus, there is a common problem of stress in Singapore in working adults. The fact is, they are not able to withstand the pressure. Therefore, a lot of problems related to stress like depression and suicide is often a problem in Singapore.
