Determining Your Perfect Position Paper
It has become very apparent that this company is expanding very quickly, and with the current reconstruction I have noticed that new positions are being created that need to be filled. As a veteran employee, I feel that I will be well suited for the leader on duty position in the medical billing department mainly because of my participative leadership skills. In order to prove that I am the best person for this position, I will identify the strengths and weaknesses of my leadership style, as well as compare and contrast different leadership theories in order to gain an understanding of the relevant theories to my leadership approach.
Let me first start off by explaining to you what a participative leader is. Being a participative leader means that you involve all members of a team in identifying essential goals, which includes decision making, and developing procedures or strategies to reach those goals. One of the strengths of being a participative leader is that it allows you to encourage everyone in your team to be more actively involved, and by doing so you are allowing your team to run free with their creativity and showcase their abilities.
Another strength of participative leadership is that you involve your team in making some, but not all decisions. By allowing your team to make some decisions, you are letting them know that you trust their judgment and value their opinion. In allowing your team to make some decisions, you are creating an atmosphere that allows a variety of perceptions to be taken into account, as well as preparing them to become future leaders in your absence.
The one weakness I can think of about this leadership style is time.
