In the story “Graduation”, a young black girl feels anticipated and honored with her graduation day. However, on her graduation day, she feels frustrated and shadowy because Mr. Donleavy, a white man, delivers a speech to the graduating class of 1940. At first, Angelou is quite excited because she is proud of her academic achievements; besides that, she is also about to make a speech in front of many students. In addition, her mother also gives her a fancy dress with an abundance of embroideries and frills. Furthermore, many people also praise her of her wisdom. When Mr. Donleavy makes his speech, Angelou feels disappointed and bitter because his speech includes too much racism. In the uninspired speech, he says a little improvement will be done in black school, while a lot advanced equipment is offered in Central School (a white school). He also mentioned that all the black should pursue is those jobs at the bottom of the society such as maids and farmers.…

After completing the survey for my economics course it gave me a career field that I should consider joining based off of my answers to the survey. The field I was given was investigative. I agree with choice because I love to solve puzzles and work with things that makes me have to think to figure it out. Also, the investigative field is a good fit for me because the jobs that are involved in this field involve math which is one of my favorite subjects whether it be engineering or computer programming. Plus, with it being investigative I am not limited by the math field because I could also work in the medical field by being a doctor trying to find a malignant tumor. The two career paths I have decided on that stem from this career category would have to be computer hardware engineer or being a biomedical engineer.…

How does a high school student know that he or she is ready to enter college? How do parents know their children are academically, mentally and emotionally ready for this transition? It is a question that has no definitive answer but does however have a basic theory that can’t be ignored. Preparing our children to enter college and to determine their career path can be a daunting task. The transition for students from high school to college really begins with the first taught lesson, the first hug, the first word and a collaborative effort; throughout a child’s lifetime we as a community pave the road to higher education.…

Early graduation opens up many opportunities to do things that students may want to during the open year between high school and college instead of going straight to college. Death penalty also known as capital punishment is the ultimate price paid for committing a heinous crime against humanity. It is use today more conservatively (in the western world) than it was used in ancient days to punish all kind of crimes. Adultery, kidnapping and fornication to name a few are punishable by death in the Holy Bible and Holy Koran. Both the proponent and the opponent of death penalty yell and scream when the word death penalty is mentioned. The proponent may argue that it deters crime while opponent may argue that an innocent may be executed. In United States, death penalty is a law in 37 of the 50 of the states.…
