Describe a Situation Where You Have Demonstrated Your Leadership Qualities?
After I joined my Present Company in early 2007, I was primarily looking after construction Industry customers viz. Civil Contractors, M&E Service Contractors, Fabricators etc. but this is proving to be not enough to attain growth in my territory as company had expected as there weren’t too many Private projects ongoing. Due to large number of government Institutions and installations present in my territory, I discussed a strategy with my management to penetrate into the government sector segment and devote my full time for 2-3 months to this and see what kind of business opportunities exist for our company in my territory. Also with past experience our company had in other parts of India, this segment proved to have given a good chunk of business of our annual turnover.
In Mid of year 2007, I started visiting government institutions like Oil Refinery, Military Engineering Services, Thermal Power Plants, Railways, NHAI, Public Water Work Department, ASI etc. In the start, I faced a lot of hurdles in pushing our products in these segments like the biggest problem we have faced is changing the mindset of decision making people from old conventional methods to new & emerging technologies in fastening & demolition sector of Construction Industry through lots of Seminars and Product Exhibitions and Demonstrations, then finding out new applications for our products at customers sites which would in turn reduce labor cost, time and be performance effective for them. Once application areas are found and justified another problem we have faced was in getting requisite approvals for our products from their testing and design teams which were scattered all over India, getting our products specified in their projects tenders against local & cheaper products which they have been using for long and also longer lead times from generating leads to converting into orders and delivery at sites with lots of government procedures and formalities to follow up with.

This case study will be based upon a comparison of principles found in John C. Maxwell’s book, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”. This text is foundational in the development and demonstration of successful leadership. It is my opinion, that Charles E. Staley, commonly known as Chuck Staley, personifies many of the mandates of a great leader as suggested within the context of Maxwell’s book. It comes as no surprise that when asked by Madison County Chamber of Commerce President, Kyle Morey, “What book has inspired you the most?”, Chuck’s reply was, “Leadership” by John C. Maxwell. Although not every one of the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership is Chuck’s strengths, many are. I will discuss the demonstration of those strengths in the following paragraphs.…

Clearly leadership skills are required and are important because the leader is the one who has the most responsibility, he is the one who gives the tasks out to his fellow team members and should help them if they struggle in a task. A person who has a good leadership is the one who can get tasks done in different ways, he is one who can change rules in order to do better, and another sign of a good leadership can also get his fellow team members to complete their objectives in new and innovative ways, and another sign of good leadership is that the leader can inspire and motivate others to work hard and do new things in different.…

The term leadership has been defined in many ways according to Howard Gardner (1995). President Harry Truman, an infamous leader could lead people to do what they do not want to do yet like it (Gardner, 1995; cited in Parker &ump; Begnaud, 2004). Eileen Ford from a well-established modeling agency defines leadership as the “ability to convince people to do what you want them to do as if they have thought of it themselves“(Karns &ump; Bean, cited in Parker &ump; Begnaud, 2004).…

Because a fundamental aspect of leadership is getting results through others, follower motivation, satisfaction, and performance are vitally important topics for leaders. Research has shown that the best followers often perform at a level 20-50 percent higher than average followers, and much of this difference in performance is due to motivation. Leaders who have dissatisfied followers or cannot motivate followers will have difficulty building teams and getting results. Therefore, the more leaders know about motivation, satisfaction, and performance, the more likely they will be successful…

In the last 16 years I have had the opportunity to know and work with many great leaders within The Church of the Living God International (CLGI), who display the characteristics of great Biblical leaders. The leader within the church that I admire most is Elder Kevin Glover, Pastor of New and Living Way, CLGI in Warner Robins, Georgia.
