Background Health Environment
“Pupils will come from a range of different family environments, cultures and circumstances.” These different circumstances can affect children’s emotional and/or intellectual development.(Burnham, 2010,p.9)“If pupils suffer from poor health or physical disability or impairment, this may restrict their development opportunities”. (Burnham 2010,p.9) E. g.” A child who has a medical condition or impairment may be less able to participate in some activities than other children. This may initially affect physical development, but may also restrict social activities. Some children may inherit conditions such as blood disorders or asthma.” ( Childcare and learning development NVQ3)

“Statistics show that children who come from deprived backgrounds are less likely to thrive and achieve well in school, as parents will find it more difficult to manage their needs, which will in turn impact on all areas of their development.” (Burnaham,2010,p.9)

E.g. “If a child has a shy, introvert parent who themselves may not be comfortable in social situations the child is more likely to be shy with limited social exposure and experiences, and this will affect on his social, emotional, physical, as well as his intellectual developments.” (Childcare and learning development NVQ3).

E. g.” Children with different cultural backgrounds will be influenced by several factors such as religion, beliefs and their families. E.g. The children’s belief may cause them emotional conflict when they want to participate in some physical activities which go against their family’s wishes or religious beliefs.”(Childcare and learning development. NVQ3).

E.g. If the child suffers from asthma, this will affect his education, he will lose long periods from the school and this will affect his ability to make friends as well.
