Demographic Paper

The word demographics has a meaning of a countries population is a county. This also includes the country’s population density, their ethnicity, their education level, their health, their economic status, religious affiliations and all the other aspects of the country’s population. Things such as gender, race, age, income, home ownership, disabilities and employment status’ are also included in the most common demographics. These can even be called demographic data, in which are some characteristics of a human population that is used in government, marketing and opinion research. Childhood obesity is a trend that had become more and more as each year continues on. The amount of children who are obese that are only between the ages of 6 and 11 has increased from 6.5% in 1980, to 19.6% in 2008 (, n.d.). The amount of teenagers who are between the ages of 12 and 19 who are becoming obese has also increased from 5% to 18.1% (, n.d.). These high results of obesity in the United States today all come from a calorie imbalance which shows that children are not properly being nourished or they have obesity issues due to genetics, specific behaviors or environmental factors that take a toll (, n.d.). This demographic has an impact of the healthcare market in many different ways. Childhood obesity can have some immediate type of health impacts and some long-term health impacts. Children whom are obese are more like to have the risk factor or developing cardiovascular diseases such as high cholesterol and or high blood pressure. Studies have shown that children ages 5 to 17, 70% developed some type of cardiovascular disease (, n.d.). Children who are obese also risk that they will have or end up with bone and joint problems and social or psychological problems due to having low self-esteem.
