many of the gods/godesses have different qualities and trait. Demeter stands out the most because she plays a very important role in Greek culture she is the goddesses of harvest and corn with her there is a base for civilization.

Now that we know a little bit about Demeter we can look into her birth of origin. Demeter is the daughter of Cronus he was the ruling Titan who came to power by castraiting his father Uranus. demeter's mother Rhea. she was the Titans mother of gods , her brothers were poiseiden and he was the great Olymipian god of seas, rivers, flood and drought. she also had two more more brothers Hades the king of the underworld , the god of death and the dead. Zues was the king of gods, the god of sky and weather, law, fate and order.Demeter has one daughter Persephone who was the goddesses of queen of the underworld, wife to the god Hades, she was also the goddess of spring growth who was worshiped.

what seperates Demeter from everyone is that she lived her life through her daughter, she was a loving mother, her weakness was depression. Pigs, snakes and the speech owl all represent Demeter.

Some of the myths about Demeter are so intriguing. Demeter's daughter Persephone was aboducted by Hades to be his wife in the underworld. In Demeter's anger at Persephone's loss. Demeter laid a curse on the world that caused plants to wither and die, the land became desolated. Zeus found out and became alarmed and sought out her return. After Persephone ate in the underworld Hades had a claim on her, Persephone would have to spend four months each year in the underworld, during these long four months Demeter withdrew her anger and fustration from the world, she created winter when Persephone returned hom, Demeter was cheerful and her happiness brought spring this is how the seasons were born.
