Beside Dell, there are some competitors that selling laptop and desktop example like Toshiba, Acer, Sony, Hewlett Packard (HP), Apple and more. Although Dell is top company in the Computers, Technology and Office equipment industry, and also one of the world's top suppliers of PCs, but Dell’s will never overlook on competitors.
To compete with others, Dell’s company came out with an idea, that is sell laptop and desktop through internet or known better as online buying system, the another way to sell their product off. One of Dell's most important moves in its quest for PC market share was to begin selling its PCs and related equipment on the Internet in 1996. Dell is the first companies that started e-commerce system on 1996 which allow consumers to purchase their product through internet (Chadderdon.L, 1998). Customers were able to place their orders on Dell's Web site as easily as they had done via the telephone. In 1997, roughly one-third of the orders Dell received were being placed on the Internet. Dell’s competitors like Toshiba or Acer, they never provide online buying. If want to buy Acer or Toshiba branded laptop, the only way is go to their retail shop. So normally customers will choose Dell because it’s more convenience and time saving. Nowadays people busy with their work, hence buying through online system is the smartest and fastest way that design or think by Dell to attract more customers to buy their product with easiest way. Price of the product will be cheaper because it’s is directly to customers and don’t have any middle person.
