Diesel Engine VS Electric Engine

An engine is a railway vehicle that provides the motive power for a train. There is an engine at the head of the train and behind it there are several carriages. The engine and the carriage together are called a train. The train runs over a pair of steel rails. In contrast the first successful engine was built by Cornish inventor Richard Trevithick. In 1804 his unnamed steam locomotive hauled a train along the tramway of the Penydarren ironworks, near Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. After long time two new engine came in railway industry that totally changed the face of railway transportation and that was diesel engine and Electric engine. Both engine are capable to carry tonns of carriages and able to work in any weather condition. However Electric engine overriding the diesel engine according to circumstances of high speed, lack of emission into the atomsphere, efficiency. After steam engine,Diesel engine is the popular engine in railway industry. A diesel engine is an reciprocating engine operating on the Diesel cycle as invented by Dr. Rudolf Diesel in 1983. Several types of diesel locomotive have been developed, the principal distinction being in the means by which the prime mover's mechanical power is conveyed to the driving wheels (drivers). A diesel engine (also known as a compression-ignition engine) is an internal combustion engine that uses the heat of compression to initiate ignition to burn the fuel, which is injected into the combustion chamber. This is in contrast to spark-ignition engines such as a petrol engine (gasoline engine) or gas engine (using a gaseous fuel as opposed to gasoline), which uses a spark plug to ignite an air-fuel mixture. The diesel engine has the highest thermal efficiency of any regular internal or external combustion engine due to its very high compression ratio. Low-speed diesel engines (as used in ships and other applications where overall engine weight is relatively unimportant) can have a...
